There are two types of pneumatic ball valves: O-type and V-type. The O-type ball valve has a floating structure, with a precision-casted ball core and a hard chromium-plated surface. The valve seat is made of enhanced PTFE material, and the flow orifice is the same as the pipe diameter, which allows for a large flow capacity with minimal flow resistance and no leakage when closed. This type of ball valve is generally used as an on/off valve and is especially suitable for high viscosity media. On the other hand, the V-type ball valve has a fixed structure with a V-shaped incision in the ball core, which allows for shearing of fibrous and granular media. Depending on the process equipment, a pneumatic or electric actuator can be chosen for the valve, which would then be referred to as a pneumatic or electric ball valve. To achieve proportional regulation, a valve positioner must be equipped with the pneumatic ball valve, while an electronic electric actuator or a servo amplifier must be used with the electric ball valve.
